About Brie Bear International

Hello friends! My name is Brianna.  I am so happy that you are here!  I am a California gal at heart, currently living in southern Germany with my husband (that dashing fellow below covered in squirrel monkeys) as he studies for his MBA, which has afforded us an incredible, life changing amount of time to travel. I know, we hit the jackpot.

Cape Town Monkeys

Traveling is one of my most favorite things in the world. It stirs my soul, inspires me, and fills my waking thoughts and dreams. After much feet dragging, combined with encouragement from friends and family, I decided to take the plunge and write a blog. I can’t wait to share my adventures with you. I hope that I can turn you onto some fabulous new places, and make your trip planning just a little bit easier. I will also recap some of my favorite TV shows, and discuss books and movies.

Join me on my escapades as I travel Europe and other parts of the world, with my husband and best friend Brad in search of the whimsical and wild. I’m so honored and thankful that you have stopped by my site.

A few Tidbits About Me

In case we haven’t met, here are a few tidbits about me – I love the wild places most. Costa Rica, Africa, Alaska – places where you can sit on your deck and see animals swinging in the trees or grazing in the meadow. Where you can hear their call, and sense their presence. Places where the landscape stretches vast and free for miles and miles. Those are the places that completely overwhelm my senses.

I love historical romances particularly on Masterpiece Theater, fantasy novels, supernatural teen romances (I’m looking at you CW), nature, donuts and bubbly. I will never get over longing for South Africa, or Cornwall. I will never get over the fact that Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore aren’t together. I will always hold out hope for my letter from Hogwarts. I know that Leo could have fit on that door. For all the people who feel the same, this blog is for you.

I read way too many books and watch way too many movies. I have loved every dog that I have ever met. I am a terrible sucker for Indian food, beach vacations, camping trips, cocktails at sunset and champagne almost anytime.

Quick Q&A:

Places I have visited:

I have visited 30 countries and 4 continents. Traveling is one of my most favorite things in the world. It stirs my soul, inspires me, and fills my waking thoughts and dreams. I am at my happiest when on a trip. I have a bit of anxiety if I am not planning some sort of travel . (Weekend camping trip, quick city break, or time in Lake Tahoe absolutely counts!)

Favorite Destination?

I think my favorite destination changes all the time! I love the wild places most. I would say Capetown, Cornwall and Costa Rica. But honestly, choosing just a few destinations makes me feel so disloyal to all the places I love! The more I see, the more I want to see, and sometimes I wish I could be everywhere all at once.

Fantasy Vacation?

I have had Namibia on my radar for some time now. I want to rent a buckeye, begin at the Southern tip and drive through the country, camping as we go.  The landscape is so incredibly vast and filled with droves of wild animals. I want to sleep under the desert, star filled sky. I want to wake to herds of elephants crossing the rivers. I want to witness a lightning storm as it cracks and dazzles and illuminates the dunes.  I want to lounge at a fire pit with a glass of South African Chablis and watch vervet monkeys leap from tree to tree. I want to end the trip with a stay at one of the resort lodges.

I could spend all day:

Lazing on a tropical white sand beach, reading books and swimming in the sea with Brad, then enjoying a frozen mojito as the sun sets over the water. Live music under the stars would round out the evening.
